The Karen
The Karen people are an ethnic group that settled along the Thai-Burma border approximately 1,500 years ago. Like many other ethnic groups in Burma, the Karen people face ongoing hostility from the Burmese military, the Tatmadaw. For over 70 years the Karen have defended their homeland, their families and their culture. They feel like a forgotten people caught up in a forgotten war.
This year, with the February military coup in Myanmar and rapidly rising COVID-19 cases in Myanmar and Thailand, support is needed now more than ever. This October help Karen communities on the Thai-Burma border know they are not forgotten by participating in 2021’s Not Forgotten 10 for 10 Adventure.
