Meet Naw Paw Moo Day, the primary school headmistress and teacher at Thoo Mweh Khee Learning Centre which Sharing Hope supports.
“I have been at TMK for ten years. I was nineteen years old when I first came here. I completed my grade 10 and post-10 education at TMK after which I studied in the BLA program. In March 2018, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education after which I become a teacher at the primary school of TMK. In 2019, I become the headmistress of TMK primary school. In addition, I also teach math and Karen to students of grades 1 to 7.
I became a teacher at TMK because I want to help the children with their education and to improve Karen education. I love to teach the students and see the progress in their learning. I like working with the teachers and sharing what I have learned from my education degree with them so that we can work together to improve our education system at TMK. Another thing I like about teaching here is that I can get help from my colleagues when I need advice for teaching and managing the school. Being able to teach at TMK helps me improve my skills and gain confidence in my work. I get to practice what I have learned and work towards my goal of improving Karen education.
The support we receive from Sharing Hope is very helpful not only for the teachers here at TMK but also in providing education for children from the Thai-Myanmar border and from within Myanmar. The support helps the TMK teachers to get money to support their family and help their children to go to Thai schools. It gives hope to the students in Karen State and refugee camps to have higher education.
In the long run, the support for teachers allows the school to provide steady education and raise up future educators and leaders for the Karen community.

The support from Sharing Hope helps me personally in many ways. I use the money for food and living expenses. I was also able to send some money to my mother in the village to help pay off her debts. The support has also been very helpful during the past year to pay for my hospital bills when I was sick.
Thank you for your kind support, Sharing Hope. It’s been so helpful for all of the teachers here. Your support encourages me to keep working in my area of passion. Your help is very much beneficial for the entire Karen community and the future of the children. Thank you so much.”
