"Here, I don’t feel lonely, I feel like home"

This year 9 student has found a sense of belonging amongst her school dorm mates on the Thai-Burma border.

“I am not from [this village], but I came here in grade-5 because in my village, the grade level is only until grade-4. My mother died few years ago and I lived with my father. I could not depend on him because he drinks all the time.

I came to study at [this] school and live in dormitory. Here, I don’t feel lonely, I feel like home because I have dorm mates who are like a family. The teachers treat us like their children. [Our teacher] works so hard for us. I will study grade 10 next year. I don’t hope to end my study here. I am hoping for opportunities to continue my study even when I finish grade 10.
